Gites and bed and breakfast in Nogent-le-Rotrou: towards a normal or catastrophic season?
Gites are an important part of local tourism, how do they see this summer season? On the other hand, the real estate business has soared as many owners are selling their gite or hotel. Carole Forcieri, manager of the “42”, explains what she has set up.
As soon as the confinement announced, Carole Forcieri has to close the doors of her gîte. Her rooms will be empty, her house too. So rare! While she is groping her way through the recovery, Air BnB and Booking send her a health protocol.
Concerning Gîte de France, I transferred those I had received to them for inspiration.
Sharing her living space with her guests, Carole could not open until May 11, 2020, the date of the deconfinement, during which time she had to carry out work, make purchases, and then suddenly return to work as a landlady.
Work during containment
Located at 42 rue Saint-Hilaire, Carole has been holding the “42” since September 2017, her only activity since the guests succeed one another in her home, and her husband Stéphane.
One would think that confinement would have been a way for her to decompress without anyone at home. No, the Nogentaise undertook some work, including sanding and painting one of the stairs.
I didn’t even have time to finish, the confinement wasn’t long enough (laughs), but the activity resumed so quickly that I had other things to set up.
Notably in order to respect the sanitary protocol.
“We keep asking for more.”
Since, yes, the hosts were just waiting for deconfinement to return to Carol’s house.
As soon as the deconfinement, I had professionals who came back to work on Nogent. During the week, it’s very regular. There, it was for the work at the Maison Italie.
On the first weekend, “Parisians made reservations. I didn’t check if they came more than 60 miles. I’m not a policeman.”
She goes on to say:
We’ve been getting requests for a month now. People want nature. And I’m lucky to be close to the city centre for those who stay urban, close to the train station as well.

But in order to accommodate people, Carole had to adapt.
Already in the hall, I took out all the brochures. If they want some, they ask me. Same with the books at the top of the stairs.
